Bobbie has been a family law attorney for 25 years and focuses her practice on areas of divorce and dissolution, child custody, grandparents’ and third-party custody rights, paternity and fathers’ rights, spousal support (alimony) and child support, collaborative law, early neutral evaluation, prenuptial agreements and other domestic relations matters. She received her J.D. from Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio (Order of the Curia) and her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1978.

Bobbie believes that attorneys can be part of the solution or at times part of the problem in family law cases. She prefers being part of the solution and has therefore immersed herself in educational programs of all kinds relative to families, children and family law, including numerous advanced collaborative seminars, advanced mediation training, child development programs for mental health professionals, attachment and bonding training, and family systems training. She has served as a Guardian ad Litem for the Franklin County, Ohio Domestic Relations and Juvenile Court. In addition, she has been approved by the State of Ohio to be a respite foster parent for children receiving services at the Buckeye Boy’s Ranch for troubled youth in Columbus. Currently, Bobbie is participating in a one-year training program to become a certified parent coach.

Prior to becoming a family law attorney, Bobbie’s early professional life was spent in the mental health field as a communications specialist. Not only did she handle communications for a five-county, rural outpatient mental health and inpatient psychiatric facility, she also completed intensive training as a paraprofessional for a 24-hour phone and walk-in treatment center. She received crisis calls and walk-ins with people experiencing a wide array of problems including rape, incest, divorce, domestic violence, drug abuse, suicide and other concerns. As a result of this experience, as well as other life circumstances (including being an adoptive mother to three children with varying levels of special needs), Bobbie feels very comfortable working with cases where mental health and/or substance use disorders are a significant factor, as well as with high conflict families. She is a caring and nonjudgmental ally to people dealing with some of life’s most difficult struggles.

Bobbie’s commitment to helping families through the legal system is reflected in her professional activities. She is an active member of the Central Ohio Academy of Collaborative Divorce Professionals, having served in various capacities on the Board of Directors, including Secretary, Vice-President and President. She is a speaker for the local and state bar on collaborative law and alternative dispute resolution techniques in child custody and divorce. She has written chapters for training manuals on varying topics for the National Business Institute, especially alternative dispute resolution strategies in custody cases. She is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts and is currently serving as Secretary of the Ohio Chapter. She is also a member of the Columbus Bar Association and its Family Law Committee, the Ohio State Bar Association and its Family Law Committee, Ohio Mediation Association, Women Lawyers of Franklin County and the International Academy for Collaborative Law Professionals. Bobbie is a Fellow of the Ohio State Bar Foundation. In addition, she serves as a board member of the Prevention Action Alliance of Ohio, a nonprofit agency dedicated to the prevention of mental health problems and substance use disorders, and the Crawford Crew, which raises funds for education and prevention of HPV and cervical cancer.

Bobbie is firmly convinced that alternatives to litigation are far better for families and especially children. Sometimes, litigation is necessary when parties absolutely cannot reach an agreement on one or more of their disputes. When that occurs, Bobbie is adept at guiding you through the confusing maze of processes that are a part of the court’s systems.

Bobbie’s office is in German Village, and she serves clients in Columbus, Dublin, Gahanna, Westerville, Pickerington and Hilliard and surrounding areas, including Pickaway, Madison, Delaware, Fairfield and Licking Counties.

Pragmatic Solutions

Bobbie is a dedicated legal professional whose passion is protecting you and what you hold dear.

She presents legal solutions that are tailored to her client’s specific needs. She understands that she is serving her clientele at one of the most difficult and stressful times of their life. Family law problems fill people with stress, financial worries, and difficult choices. She provides clients with the legal guidance they need in order to make the most educated decisions for their families.

While family law matters can be costly and contentious, the cost can be limited to the right legal guidance. Family disputes requiring the involvement of legal professionals can often be resolved outside of court and in a favorable, cost-efficient manner. Bobbie’s first track is always to look for opportunities for mutual agreement whenever possible because the reality of the legal system is such that no one truly ever “wins” in a litigated domestic case. However, when litigation is necessary, Bobbie has and will aggressively advocate for and help guide her clients through the legal maze of paperwork, depositions, trial and even appeal.

Bobbie’s top priority is you. She wants to understand your needs and help you through every step of the process. Contact Bobbie so that she can get started working for you. She will create a legal strategy that is suited to your unique situation. You can trust her to handle your legal family matters.
